Once you get more than 2 posts, your moved to the Members+ group which only has the sidebar ad. I fail to see why adding ads is a piss poor excuse. Since iBotModz doesn't charge anything for any of its uses, I'll send the bill to for now on since you feel working outside of the site should cover it.

Why doesn't the owner use money he makes from a job to pay the website? How is that hard to understand?

He said so himself, he doesn't beleive his own website is worth his own money.

I've used my own money that I make from my job multiple times. When I first bought IPB, when I first bought the server, and when I bought a few modification for the board. However, since I get nothing in return I wanted the website to be able to run itself for the renewals.

Ads didn't cover that... So once again I used my own money to keep the board updated. Then I asked for donations and they payed for the server which is where we are now

Yes that is perfectly right. Before, Guests could NOT view the site unregistered. Now they can, however for a token of viewing the site without being registered they must have ads. The good part is they simply register and it removes 1 ad, they make 2 posts and boom there goes another ad.

Hell, if you donate there is no ads.

I have no clue where your going with this argument. Are you trying to say I should pay for the site by myself without ad money? That would be sticking my head in a hole and not taking advantage to the good parts of hosting online. If maybe the top 10 sites in the world didn't use ads then that would persuade me not to, however look around and ads are everywhere.

You can use a god damn firefox extension if you hate them soo much. Do you host a website? Or are you just blind firing false accusations?

No, I just find ads displeasing, as expressed against linkbucks in my first reply.

I see where you are going with this, I was just wondering why it was even beneficial to use ads in the first place.

This is one of the most important things in this discution, If you do not actually own a website then you basically have no say, Just because of the face that you dont have to deal with cost of running a site. Why constanly use money that you are making in real life to spend online if your not even getting a "kick back' i might aswell just throw money away everymonth. But in my situation im making enough money in ads to pay for everything online PLUS stuff in my real life.

If you ever own a website you will understand how important ad revenue is. Ads are very benefical.

Some site's do go way over board, But the owner knows that he can load up the site with ads and he knows that he still wont lose any traffic
