It's pretty good. Some cons are that it get's messed up a lot. I get a lot of errors when running crap. I suggest it though because of it's ability to run better programs.

Watch for (x86) which is (64-bit) because A lot of stuff is not compatible yet. You can buy a 32bit > 64bit file convertor (like DLLs) but software costs lke 15,000$, or you can do it vith lke VB or C++, C, C+, C# etc... I dunno maybe

Its kinda rare to get x86... you would have to ask specifically for it i believe.

to answer your question "Replying to Is Vista as bad as they say it is?"

no vista is not as bad as "they" say it is, but xp is better than they say. anything vista can do, xp an do quicker, more reliably and for half the cost...

still, worth the extra £100 for the vista aero glass right ;)

(p.s i dual boot xp pro sp3, and vista ult sp1, diddnt pay for either and i almost never use vista... except for ssh on my iphone...)

    i agree with matty0.

    vista isn't terrible,
it's just a step down from xp.

It has a lot of extra gadgets and gizmos that the normal laptop user would like,
but for power users, (like most people on this site) it just runs too slow bc of all the extra crap running in the background

got a lot of flashy software that makes it look like they upgraded it so much,
but really if u just like the interface w/o all the extra crap, look for software downloads for specific things.

most of the overlays that Vista comes with is now downloadable for XP

if you like the start menu of vista more than the xp start menu,
just go find the start bar converter, i know its out there, had it for a couple months myself.

Vista isn't that bad it still works but it still has the occasional errors. If you aren't sure which to get try getting a laptop with xp installed that also comes with a vista disc. That's what I got with my new pc.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I don't really have a choice because I think the laptop was almost built around Vista. If I installed XP I think it would screw it up real bad.

there is nothing wrong with Vista. I don't know where you heard anything bad about it.

If anybody did have a problem with vista it's because they have a virus. Or a Rly slow comp.

But since you're getting a completely new comp it will be good.

There are alot of issues wth the UAC and many users scrap vista without even giving it a chance.
