Try Freez flv converter. There is one for converting to avi, and another to convert to mp3.

I use it all the time, for me, it converts large files, such as 90mb flv files, into avi, in 5 seconds, with perfect quality.

So what if he used a little of the source? It doesn't really matter. He probably did some of the coding himself.
