Sony sues PS3 hacker for 1,000,000 euros, hacke...

Alexander "graf_chokolo" Egorenkov has his home raided by German police this past week, after Sony demanded the seizure of his PS3 hacking equipment. It has been subsequently revealed that Sony plans to sue Egorenkov for 1,000,000 euros ... and Egorenkov doesn't care.

"The SONY’s laywer asked me why I’m doing what I’m doing, because of my hatred for SONY?" writes the hacker. "He cannot understand why I’m doing it, because he is paid for what he does. I’m not. I don’t hold a grudge against SONY even now Hatred clouds your mind, keeps you from more important things. I have a better use for my mind and knowledge.

"So, SONY you failed again, you took my equipment but my mind is still free and you cannot (sic) control it. You failed again. They are just tools, I can get new ones and will continue my HV reversing and bringing back PS3 Linux which you took from us. If you want me to stop then you should just kill me because I cannot live without programming, HV and Linux kernel hacking You know who am I and where I live, so come and get me!!!"

In spite of police raids and legal threats, he has continued to post his PS3 reverse-engineering research and other juicy information. Say what you will about Alexander Egorenkov ... he has some significantly sizable testicles.

Crysis 2 PC Demo

The time has come for PC gamers to take their best shot in Crysis 2 multiplayer. Available for download at http://crysis.ea.com and other partner sites on March 1, the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo includes two stunning maps, two adrenaline-filled modes, and hours of multiplayer action. In the demo, PC gamers will master the game’s signature Nanosuit, which allows them to be strong, be invisible, be fast and become the ultimate weapon.

Players will compete in six vs. six matches set against a war-torn Manhattan in two maps: “Skyline”, set on top of the rooftops and interiors of skyscrapers, and “Pier 17”, an open environment with limited cover. The demo also features two modes: “Team Instant Action” pits two teams against each other as they kill as many opponents as possible to win the round and “Crash Site,” where players will battle for control of alien drop pods, earning points by guarding their pods and keeping enemies at bay.

I know I'm pretty excited for this game.

Sony war rages on

Sony are bullies
Sony doesn't care if what you did was legal, if they don't like it, they sue. Sony tried to sue a guy for getting his AIBO to do non Sony approved tricks, making it apparent that they don't really care about piracy, they care about control. In (Sony v Bleem), Bleem was the winner on all counts, but the high cost of a legal defense shut them down. Fortunately, that suit helped set precedent on the legality of emulators. I would hate to lose this case due to resource starvation, and with the support of the masses, I won't. Lets turn the bully back on itself. This case has the ability to set a huge precedent for consoles and all closed systems to come. The other two should be begging Sony to back off.

Little do individuals know is that this case will set a precedence for all future modding on every console. This case is coming down to weather you really own that console you purchased. Companies like Sony are just abusing it. I'm not asking you to boycott Sony or do anything extreme. I'm asking you to read up on this case and learn what is going on, to formulate your own opinions.
