How to transfer Xbox memory from old 360 to new?

My old xbox 360 broke and im going to buy the new slim xbox 360. I was wondering how to transfer all the memory and my gamertag from the hard drive. The xbox is broken so i cant transfer it on a usb or something.

By broken do you mean that it won't turn on completely? If that's the case I don't know because the slim doesn't read the big chunky HDD. And the data transfer kit also doesn't apply. What I think you have 2 options:
- try to buy an old xbox which allows you to put the HDD in.
- or still buy the slim and download everything back through account management. Just recover your gamertag with your Windows Live ID first and then go to into download history on account management.

If your "old" xbox 360 broke. That has the harddrive attached. Simply pop that off. Use a screw driver and remove the plastic casing until your down to a little SATA drive.

That will slide right into the hdd slot in the 360 slim.
