Because 343 oversees every possible medium for new Halo content, "There's no guarantee that Master Chief's adventure will continue in a videogame" 
The continuation of Chief's story could potentially be tied to a novel or comic book
. But that would seem a disservice to the bulk of "fans who only follow Halo games"
It's likely that we won't get news on the next game in the Halo franchise until after Halo: Reach hits stores in September. "We may not know anything until next year".
But at least we can rest assured that Chief won't be stuck in stasis forever
