this shows you how to clean more than just the focus lens from a sumsung or hitachi
this will repair about 99% of all read problem with samsung or hitachi drives.

first remove the screw and the metal bracket that hold the ribbon cable in place.

next remove screw from bottom side of laser assm.

next your going to insert a screwdriver into the slit on the side of the laser and
pop the focus assembly off the base.

gently move the focus block assembly to the side so you can get the the actual laser
lens itself, with a q-tip(cotton swab) & alcohol your gonna clean this lens.

next flip the entire lens assembly over so you can get to the underside of the
focus lens, you need to pull part of the q-tip's cotton bud away so it's small
enough to fit in the opening to clen the bottom side of the lens.

Last, re-assemble the lens assembly and then clean the top side of the focus assembly.

and that's it your done the laser will play like new again.

you can also do this with the benq & liteon drive's but they use glue to hold the
focus block in place, you just need to re-glue it into place after your finished
cleaning it. don't use super glue it will cause you nothing but problems.

    good luck
