Lately there has been a large increase in SPAM, maybe not here but at other much larger sites I've been PM spammed and email bombed by scripts. In order to better protect against that in the long run I've implemented some small changes, that will prevent spammers.

Upon registering you will be placed in the "Members" group. That group has had some changes

• 35 Second Search Limit
  
• Only 1 PM per 5 minutes
  
• Signature Editing Disabled
  
• Upload Limit 4MB per file
  
• Total Limit 10MB overall
  
• No display name changes
  
• Larger Shoutbox "anti-spam" time
  
• 10 Downloads per day on "Download" tab

Once you hit 1 approved post (SPAM section does NOT count) you will be moved to the usergroup of "Members+" which is essentially the same thing. It has the same color, same user-bar and it is the same group in the legend on the online user list. The benefits of this group just basically lets me trust you, so you get lots more things. Possibly disable word filter (still working on that)

• Upload Limit of 6MB per file
  
• Total Limit of 2GB.
  
• Display name changes every 365 days
  
• Shoutbox "anti-spam" dropped to 4 seconds
  
• 25 file downloads per day on Download Tab

Cool, can mods "approve" the post in order to put them into the Members+ group?

Its a 15 minute interval to check for people with "more than 1 post, and in usergroup: Members" then they will be moved.

In other words, no thats too many posts to moderate.

Yea, thats what i was thinking, maybe we should do 10 approved posts, and then we promote them to a Member+

I don't want to member to have to gain abilities to do basic things. The group was made to prevent mainly PM spam, since a bot isn't programmed to make a post then PM spam.

Also when you say once a year do you mean that I could change it dec 30 2009 and change it back january 1 2010?
